International higher education statistics are compiled by a number of national and international organizations, chief among them being: the Institute for International Education (IIE) in the United States; the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD); the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); and the World Bank. These agencies seek to gather and develop global and internationally comparable higher education statistics. In addition, national survey organizations such as the Pew Research Center track and compare global attitudes and values.
